The Bearded Collie originated in Central Europe and was used as a Drover
of cattle. He is a happy, stable, well rounded dog.
Size:
Males: 21 to 22 inches at the shoulders.
Females: 20 to 21 inches at the shoulder
Colors:
Black, Blue, Brown and Fawn.
Coat:
Double coated with the undercoat soft, furry and close. The outercoat is flat,
harsh, strong and shaggy, free from wolliness and curl, although a slight
wave is permissable.
Temperament:
Very friendly and outgoing with dogs or people.
Very loving and loyal to entire family.
When well trained are usually trustworthy off lead.
Can be destructive if not properly trained.
Can be very vocal.
Excellent as guard dogs.
Can usually be trusted with small children.
Usually not difficult to housebreak.
Usually good with other animals.
Reception to Training:
Excellent candidate in the hands of a skilled trainer.

Hip and Elbow displasia, Allergies, Epilepsy, PRA, cataracts.
Summary:
This breed is a very good prospect as a family pet as long as there is at
least one family member who realizes and is willing to administer
the grooming that is required.
If looking for a Conformation Show dog, this is an good choice.
If looking for a Pet/Companion Dog, an excellent choice.
If looking for an Obedience Dog, a fair choice.
